Mary Grabar

Mary Grabar earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia in 2002, and taught at a number of colleges in Georgia, most recently, Emory University. Since 2014, she has been a resident fellow at the Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization in Clinton, New York.

While teaching, she also wrote about the corruption of education, both at the college and K-12 levels, and continues to do so. 

In 2011, she filed paperwork for her nonprofit, The Dissident Prof Education Project (Dissident and was caught in the IRS targeting scheme under President Obama. It took almost two years to obtain nonprofit status and in late 2018 Dissident Prof was part of a class action lawsuit that successfully sued the government over “viewpoint discrimination.” People can read her blog and sign up for her newsletter at

Her book Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation against America, came out on August 20, 2019.  

Her second book, Debunking The 1619 Project: Exposing the Plan to Divide America, was published on September 7, 2021. 

Since 2011, she has been working on a biography of the early black conservative George Schuyler and hopes to have that published soon. Several of her essays on Schuyler have been published in magazines and scholarly book collections.

Mary was born in Slovenia when it was still part of Communist Yugoslavia and was brought to this country as a two-year-old by her parents who escaped. She grew up in Rochester, New York, and now lives in Clinton, New York.
